Projection for Ohio State's 2024 Win Total Revealed: Can Buckeyes Break Through?
The Ohio State Buckeyes are in for a pleasant 2024 season, according to the oddsmakers.
In its latest projections for each team's win total, FanDuel gave the Buckeyes an over/under line of 10.5 wins over the coming year. A description of which games Ohio State would win or lose was not attached to the sportsbook's prediction.
The Georgia Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks and Texas Longhorns each share a 10.5 line with the Scarlet and Gray. Those four schools are tied with one another for the best winning projection in college football.
Ohio State ended last season with back-to-back losses, first to the Michigan Wolverines on November 25 and then to the Missouri Tigers in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl on December 29.
Those two losses capped off a ten-win year for the Buckeyes and was the second consecutive campaign to end with the last two games resulting in defeats. Even worse for Ohio State and its fans, the last three seasons in a row have contained losses to the Michigan Wolverines.
Since their most recent loss to the Wolverines back in November, the Buckeyes have added numerous high-quality pieces to their roster. The transfer portal has produced several players at important positions for Ohio State, including quarterback Will Howard (Kansas State Wildcats), defensive back Caleb Downs (Alabama Crimson Tide), and running back Quinshon Judkins (Ole Miss Rebels)
Additionally, the Buckeyes have secured commitments from the best recruits in the country like five-star receiver Jeremiah Smith, cornerback Aaron Scott Jr., and defensive edge Eddrick Houston. Incoming freshman Prentiss "Air" Noland (also a five-star prospect) will compete with Howard for the role of starting quarterback this coming season, along with former Crimson Tide commit Julian Sayin.
The additions are not limited to those on the field, including as well former UCLA Bruins head coach and now Ohio State offensive coordinator Chip Kelly.
Where does Michigan sit in FanDuel's list of win totals? The Wolverines are tied for the second-best win line at 9.5.
This leaves a clear implication that Ohio State could break its recent losing trend against Michigan this season.
