REPORT: Michigan to Hire Ohio State Coach Tony Alford
The Ohio State Buckeyes are expected to have one of the best rushing attacks in college football next season.
One reason for that, is the stud tandem of Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson. Another is due to elite coaching, where Ohio State running backs coach Tony Alford has been managing the position for the last nine seasons.
But now, according to reports from ESPN's Pete Thamel, Alford has informed Ohio State that he is set to leave Columbus and join the Buckeyes arch-rival Michigan Wolverines.
Football Scoop was the first to report the interest in Alford by Michigan.
The Wolverines, who are entering their first season under new head coach Sherrone Moore, are in the midst of continuing to build their new staff after the departure of Jim Harbaugh to the L.A. Chargers.
Under Harbaugh, former Michigan running back Mike Hart was the running backs coach, helping Blake Corum to rush for 1,245 yards and 27 touchdowns last season. Hart, however, was not brought back into the fold after the coaching transition by Moore.
But now, Moore has found his replacement in Alford, who has his own rich history of success in Columbus.
During his time at Ohio State, Alford has helped develop players like J.K. Dobbins, Ezekiel Elliott, Mike Weber, Trey Sermon, and the aforementioned Henderson into legitimate NFL talents.

Beyond that, Alford is also known as an elite recruiter, winning 247Sports' National Recruiter of the Year award in 2011 during his time at Notre Dame. He also helped land prospects like Henderson and Dobbins, as well as Dallan Hayden, Miyan Williams, James Peoples, Tommy Eichenberg, Lathan Ransom, and Steele Chambers.
Suffice it to say, the loss of Alford will now be a major blow to the Buckeyes on multiple fronts.
