Report: Ryan Day Expected to Make Multiple Ohio State Staff Changes

According to reports, Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day is expected to make multiple changes to his coaching staff

Following a disappointing and frustrating loss to the Missouri Tigers in the Cotton Bowl, Ohio State Buckeyes fans were left pondering the next steps for the program.

One of those questions was at the quarterback position, where the Buckeyes landed Kansas State transfer Will Howard, and answered the concerns.

Another was whether or not there would be a shake-up to the coaching staff.

Now, it appears that those questions are set to be answered as well, with Ryan Day expected to make multiple staff changes, including a new offensive coordinator, per reports from Football Scoop.

Brian Hartline, who was named the offensive coordinator this past season, is considered to be safe on the staff, per the report. However, if the reports are accurate, it appears there may be a new play caller coming to Colombus.

Day is also expected to make changes in the defensive and special teams areas, with the latter being a particular problem throughout the 2023 season.

It is unclear where exactly the other changes will come on the defensive and offensive staff as of now. That said, QB coach could be an option, with the current holder of the position, Corey Dennis, on an expiring contract.

One area where there will surely not be a change is at defensive coordinator, where Jim Knowles put together one of the best defenses in the country this past season. That unit ranked third in the country in total defense, and second in scoring defense.

One way or another, however, with growing frustrations in the fan base after three-straight losses to Michigan and a disappointing end to 2023, Day needs to make some drastic changes in order to get his program back on top of the Big Ten.
