WATCH: Arrest Video of Ohio State Buckeyes Ex Chris Olave Emerges
Former Ohio State Buckeyes and now New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was arrested on Monday for reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football was the first to report the incident.
Olave was reportedly driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone. According to Underhill, Olave has fully cooperated and was taken to Kenner City Jail. Olave has since been processed and released from custody.
Now, a video of that arrest has surfaced, with Olave apologizing to police.
"My bad dawg, I play for the Saints, man," Olave said.
A former first-round pick out of Ohio State, Olave is in his second NFL season and has 111 catches for 1,513 yards and five touchdowns in his career.
He is coming off of a tough Thursday Night Football matchup in which he drew the ire of his quarterback, Derek Carr, for running the wrong route in a critical moment.
Saints coach Dennis Allen also publicly blamed Olave for that mistake.
"That’s one of those where Chris really got what's kind of referred to as a bus ticket release ...," Allen said. "Derek thought there was a good chance to get a one-on-one shot with him on the outside line, which in our league if you get a chance to get a good player in a one-on-one matchup, that’s what a lot of this league is about. Chris didn’t run that route the way that it needs to be run. That’s what happened and we ended up having a throw-away there."
At Ohio State, Olave was a star, catching 176 passes for 2,711 yards and 35 touchdowns in four seasons.
