New York Giants Re-Sign G Wyatt Davis
The New York Giants announced Monday that they re-signed former Ohio State Buckeyes guard and exclusive rights free agent Wyatt Davis.
An exclusive rights free agent is a player with less than two accrued seasons — when a player is on a team's roster for six or more games — in which the player must accept the franchise's qualifying offer if one is extended. Davis appeared in one game last season for the Giants after being claimed off waivers Dec. 28, 2022.
The Bellflower, CA. native played in 50 games at Ohio State. In his time, he was a two-time First Team All-American and the 2020 Big Ten Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year — the first guard in Ohio State program history to win the award.
He was drafted in the third round with the No. 86 overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2021 where he played in six games on special teams. He was waived by the Vikings Aug. 30, 2022.
Davis was signed to the Giants' practice squad Sept. 1, 2022, was released Sept. 8, 2022, and signed with the New Orleans Saints the same day.
He played one game with the Saints before being waived Nov. 8, 2022. Davis was claimed by the Arizona Cardinals one day later.
The two-year NFL veteran appeared in one game with the Cardinals, was released Dec. 27, 2022, and found a new home in the Big Apple where he signed one day later.
Davis will compete for a roster spot this season, looking to move up the depth chart among other Giants guards Mark Glowinski, Nick Gates, Jack Anderson and Ben Bredeson.
