The Ohio State Buckeyes have been one of the most successful college football programs in the country over the last few seasons, thanks in large part to their head coach, Ryan Day.

And now, Day is reaping the benefits from that success, receiving a raise for the 2023 season, according to reports.

In total, Day received a 5.25 percent bump in his pay for this season, which is good for $446,250. That increase brought his total salary for the season to over $10 million. A retention bonus will also reportedly kick in in 2024

Day received the raise in February.

“He continues to develop young men holistically and builds them not only to be great football players but better men,” Ohio State AD Gene Smith said of Day this past summer. “The culture of the program is outstanding because of Ryan's leadership. It is the best it has ever been.”

Day succeeded Urban Meyer at Ohio State in 2018, being named the active head coach for the Buckeyes after Meyer was placed on leave. Meyer Later retired, paving the way for Day to be named the full-time head coach of the Buckeyes in 2019.

In his first season as the full-time head coach Day went 13-1 with the lone blemish coming in 29-23 loss to the Clemson Tigers in the College Football Playoff semi-final at the Fiesta Bowl

Through his career with the Buckeyes, Day has accumulated a 48-6 record, led his team to the College Football Playoffs three times, and the national title game once (2020).

He has also won two Big Ten titles and was named Big Ten coach of the year in 2019.

He will hope to continue to build on that success on Saturday when the Buckeyes head to South Bend to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 7:30 p.m. ET.
