The former New York Giants cornerback was an analyst and assistant defensive backs coach at Oklahoma State before Tulsa. Hunter will work alongside secondary and cornerbacks coach Tim Walton and safeties coach Matt Guerrieri.

In 2023, Hunter worked with former Ohio State offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Kevin Wilson while working as the defensive pass game coordinator and cornerbacks coach.

Hunter also worked with current Buckeyes defensive coordinator Jim Knowles at Oklahoma State in 2021.

In Hunter's first season under Wilson at Tulsa, the Golden Hurricane pass defense floundered, ranking No. 13 out of 14 programs in the American Athletic Conference allowing 279.8 passing yards per contest as the team went 4-8.

While at Oklahoma State, Hunter helped coach a defense that ranked No. 37 in the nation under Knowles.

Hunter hails from West Monroe, Louisiana and played college football at Indiana under Wilson from 2011-2014. He registered 91 total tackles, 14 pass breakups and two interceptions while in Bloomington.

He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Giants in 2016 and played two seasons before joining the practice squads of the New York Jets, Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs.
