ESPN's "College GameDay" analyst Kirk Herbstreit will be inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame this winter for his broadcasting of the game, per an announcement Tuesday. While the former Ohio State quarterback never got a chance to play in the game, he will be calling his 16th Rose Bowl Game — the most ever — on Jan. 1, 2024.

Herbstreit has earned five Emmy Awards for his work in college football on "College GameDay" and in calling games — three as an Outstanding Sports Personality Studio Analyst and two as a Sports Event Analyst. He has been with "College GameDay" since 1996.

Herbstreit was the full-time starting quarterback for the Buckeyes in the 1992-93 season, where he threw for 1904 yards — good for third in the Big Ten — and four touchdowns through 11 games.

The QB played alongside Ohio State legends like running back Eddie George and wide receiver Joey Galloway in his final season under head coach John Cooper. George went on to win the Heisman in 1995.

Herbstreit will be honored during the Rose Bowl Parade, which will be 8 a.m. to noon New Year's Day, as well as on the field during the game. He will be inducted with 1934 Rose Bowl-winning quarterback Cliff Montgomery from Columbia and 1991 national champion, All-American and 2015 College Football Hall of Fame inductee offensive lineman Lincoln Kennedy from Washington.

The Rose Bowl Game, which is a College Football Playoff Semifinal game this season, will be played in Pasadena, California, Jan. 1, 2024 at 2 p.m. local time.
