Parris Campbell Agrees To Deal With New York Giants
Coming off his first healthy season in his four-year NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts, former Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Parris Campbell has a new home.
Campbell has agreed to sign with the New York Giants ahead of his fifth season, according to The Score.
Campbell was one of the most prolific Ohio State receivers in recent memory, as a major beneficiary from former quarterback Dwayne Haskins’ record-breaking 2018 season.
In 2018, Campbell caught 90 passes — the second most in a single season in program history — for 1,063 yards — sixth most in a single season by a Buckeye — and 12 touchdowns, which were tied for fifth most all-time.
Campbell finished with the 18th-most receiving yards in program history with 1,768 and his 143 receptions are tied with Garrett Wilson for the eighth-most in Ohio State history.
The Akron, OH. native was the lone Buckeye taken in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, selected by the Colts with the No. 59 overall selection. Another former Ohio State wide receiver Terry McLaurin was selected one round later with the 76th pick by Washington.
Campbell made an impression, hauling in his first career NFL touchdown in Week 2 on a 12-yard lofted pass from Jacoby Brissett, but his season was cut short after seven games.
The next two seasons were also riddled by injuries, as he ended 2020 and 2021 the same way he ended his rookie season — on injured reserve.
Last season, though, Campbell remained healthy, playing more games last season than his first three combined, and displayed why the Colts drafted him.
Campbell used his speed and agility, as 277 of his career-high 623 receiving yards last season came after the catch. He reeled in 63 passes finding the end zone three times amidst the Colts’ quarterback woes.
