Buckeyes Ryan Day Updates Spring Game Info, Devin Brown Status
Ryan Day finally held his press conference discussing exactly what the spring game would be this season. Speculation has been that it may be the same as last season with offense vs. defense with a modified points system.
Day was worried about depth at some positions coming in, namely defensive end, and wasn't sure if he could do a straight "Scarlet vs. Gray" scrimmage game because he wants the ability to rotate guys in and out.
In the long run, Day decided offense vs. defense is the way to go. They will still play four quarters but possibly with a running clock in the fourth just to move things along.
Day also mentioned more than 50,000 tickets have already been sold for the practice game at the Horseshoe.
The big news coming out of Day's presser was regarding the quarterback position.
Day said Devin Brown will not play in the spring game due to a finger injury but did not go into specifics regarding the injury. Day elaborated that it's a recent injury that required a procedure, making Brown unavailable for the spring game.
Day said he expects Brown to be back "very soon" and have a "full summer of work" ahead of him.
Day indicated he'd still like to see more improvement from the offensive line but realizes there's a lot of time for them to grow together before things really count.
The Scarlet-Gray Spring Game will be held this Saturday at the Horseshoe at 12:05 p.m.
The game will be televised live on the Big Ten Network with Chris Vosters, Joshua Perry and Brooke Fletcher calling the action, and will also be carried on the statewide Ohio State Sports Radio Network and flagship WBNS 97.1 FM The Fan with Paul Keels and Jim Lachey on the call.
