Ohio State senior wide receiver has been announced as the 2026 recipient of the Block 'O' jersey number, the team announced in a social media post on Saturday.

Head Coach Ryan Day said in a statement:

"Brandon is the right choice to wear the Block 'O' this season. It is an honor that represents much more than what a player does on the field. It is about toughness, accountability, and character, and Brandon has earned the respect of everyone in our building through the way he works, prepares, and serves his teammates. He is now a two-time captain who understands what it means to wear The Scarlet and Gray and the responsibility that comes with this program. Brandon continues to grow as a leader, and he will represent the legacy of Bill Willis and everything the Block 'O' stands for the right way."

About the Block O

The Block O award, which began in 2020, is given to the player that best represents what it means to be a Buckeye through their character, toughness, and leadership. The jersey number was inspired by the late Bill Willis, a former middle guard who made history as the Buckeyes' first black All-American recipient in 1943 and 1944. Past winners include Sonny Styles, Cody Simon, Xavier Johnson, Kamryn Babb, Thayer Munford, and Jonathan Cooper.

About Innis

A former five-star recruit, Brandon Inniss has not quite lived up to expectations in his time with the Buckeyes. After appearing in 8 games as a true freshman, Inniss became a regular part of the rotation in years two and three. Despite a significant increase in snaps, Inniss has never surpassed 300 receiving yards. Inniss ended last season with 35 receptions, 271 yards, and three touchdowns.

Despite his lack of production on the field, Brandon Inniss has worked hard and continues to be a role model for his teammates. Inniss has had a busy offseason, earning the Block 'O' Award, earning his second nomination for team captain, and earning the Iron Buckeye Award, along with Jeremiah Smith, Jaylen McClain, and Garrett Stover. Inniss told reporters he wants to join the exclusive and legendary list of Ohio State wide receivers to be first-round picks.

“I’m focused this year. I got one year left, and Imma do everything I can to be a first-round pick.”

This is a big season ahead for Brandon Inniss, and he has put in the hard work necessary for a big season.
