4-Star Buckeyes RB Target Boo Carter Sets Ohio State Official Visit

Versatile, two-sport star being courted by OSU at running back

Boo Carter will have his pick.

The Chattanooga (Tenn.) Brainerd two-sport, do-it-all football recruit has put together a storied prep career ahead of his senior season and his college football recruitment hit an apex long before that point.

At 5-foot-10, 184 pounds, Carter has more than 30 college programs after his verbal commitment and eventual signature.

The Ohio State Buckeyes targeted the junior as a running back in November and have been listed as a top option since, including just before the New Year when the Volunteer State star placed the Buckeyes in his top five.

Since, a variety of programs have tried to make a late play for Carter while his foundational options continue to push for spring visits and eventual official visits.

On Wednesday, On3's Chad Simmons reported OSU securing one of the officials as Carter's recruitment rolls on. Each side will get more intimate time with one another the weekend of June 18, timely as one of the Buckeyes' additional targets at the position just came off the board to rival Michigan.

Tony Alford is on the case, and the two have built a rapport in relatively short order. Carter was in Columbus for the season finale against Michigan in November.

“I have a great relationship with the staff,” Carter told Simmons. “They are always showing love to me and my family. Tony Alford is my main coach and he bonds with me, my family and with my coach.”

Tennessee, Michigan, Oregon and Colorado made up Carter’s top group, one he called a “final five” back in December. Some programs on the list value him on defense while others agree with OSU by projecting him as a running back. Carter is also a key member of Brainerd’s varsity basketball team, helping the program to the state semifinals in March.
