The 'dream school' phrase gets thrown around aplenty in the college football recruiting scene, but sometimes it hits harder than most.

When Sean Sevillano earned his Ohio State Buckeyes scholarship offer this week, there was a different buzz for him and his family simultaneously the Sevillano camp collectively had the same reaction.

"This has been the dream school since I was young," he told Buckeyes Now. "It was a FaceTime with Coach (Larry) Johnson and my parents, it was pretty sweet. We were all really hyped."

The rising-senior defensive line recruit, a native of Canada but prepping at Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International has been hot on the trail of late, and his dominance was most recently on display at the Under Armour camp in Orlando.

Sevillano is up to about two dozen offers with even more interest coming by the week.

But the Buckeye tender hit different, especially coming from Johnson. The two parties have been increasing contact back and forth of late.

"We've built a connection before he offered," he said. "He wanted to get to know me and my parents. He's a really cool dude, overall does things right. He loves that I play hard, that's his favorite thing. He also likes my hands and hips.

"That's DLU."

Sevillano is the anchor of the CAI defense, as well as a varsity team captain on a roster littered with FBS talent. A bevy of programs are expected to stop in on the school during spring football, where the interest in the 6-foot-2, 300-pounder will continue to build.

Both before and likely after that point, though, Ohio State will get a round of visits from him. An official visit is being planned, too.

"I'm weighing my options as spring ball is around the corner, but OSU is as good as it gets as a defensive lineman," he said.

Programs like Stanford, Maryland, West Virginia, Illinois, Louisville, Duke and others are currently on Sevillano's offer list. Florida hosted him for a visit in late January, too.

As a junior in 2022, Sevillano was CAI's defensive player of the year selection, registering 74 tackles, including 22 sacks, 17 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles.
