Ohio State's Alford Building Relationship with FSU Commitment Kam Davis

Peach State running back aiming to soon visit Columbus
In this story:

CARROLLTON, Ga. -- Kameron Davis has been as long-tenured a verbal commitment to one college football program as any member of the class of 2024.

The Albany (Ga.) Dougherty running back has been on board with Mike Norvell's program since February of 2021. More than two years later, though, many programs are still courting the Peach State prospect.

Ohio State has been among them, led of course by Tony Alford.

"Ohio State is in it heavy," Davis told Fan Nation's Brian Smith on Sunday. "Coach Alford is very tough and is always texting me, so I make sure I always keep that relationship."

Such is the plan with Davis for several programs still trying to change his mind from the longtime FSU pledge. There is some due diligence to be had, beginning with unofficial visits to Tennessee and Florida State in March.

A potential trip to Ohio State has been discussed, Davis says, though the logistics have yet to come together. The Buckeyes initially offered last summer.

The plan, into the summer months, could be to see more programs outside of the southern footprint.

"Distance doesn't really matter," Davis said. "NIL is the deal right now, even though it's not all about money, I could use it to get my parents a place to stay -- even if it was an apartment. But the distance from home isn't a problem.

"Right now I'm going to ride it out and see until I have my mind made up. I'm not trying to limit the options so early."

Davis remains firm in his Florida State decision, he reassured, though admitting there is still plenty of time before a National Letter of Intent can be signed in December.

As a junior in 2022, Davis quarterbacked DHS to nine wins as a dual threat, throwing and rushing for nearly 4,000 yards and 33 touchdowns in the process.
