The Ohio State Buckeyes have gone viral.

More specifically, Buckeyes commit Nick McLarty has become the subject of social media attention following his commitment to the school. McLarty announced his acceptance of a full scholarship to Ohio State on Friday but has become a household name to fans for something much older.

McLarty shared a video of himself on November 16, 2023, in which he boots a punt 90 yards over a football stadium.

The video blew up at the time but was rediscovered by fans and media while they were researching Ohio State’s latest commit. McLarty’s post has almost half a million views on X, the social media platform formerly known as "Twitter."

McLarty's impressive leg is not the only thing unique about the future Buckeyes punter. The Melbourne, Australia native is six-foot-seven, a height which makes him taller than every one of his soon-to-be teammates at Ohio State.

McLarty was the most recent and probably final addition to the Buckeyes ahead of the 2024 season. Signing his letter of intent on Friday after a several-day visit to Columbus, McLarty told members of the media that the city and program made a great impression on him.

"After conversations with coaches Ryan Day and Rob Keys, it felt like home," McLarty said. "The respect towards specialists and emphasis on the role of a punter, I couldn't be happier."

McLarty will join the team in the summer, and be one of the few options to fill the vacant starting-punter position left by the transfer of Jesse Mirco.
