Oklahoma Star Named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week After Sweep of Texas

Carter Campbell was excellent in relief last week, including three scoreless innings in the Sooners' victory Friday in Austin.

When you sweep Texas, you get noticed.

Oklahoma landed the Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week honor after the Sooners shockingly went into Austin and took three from the No. 14-ranked Longhorns.

Carter Campbell pitched 8 2/3 innings of relief over three games, allowing just five hits and one earned run while picking up a win and a save.

The left-hander from Keller, TX, threw the final three innings in Friday’s win over the 'Horns, giving up just a pair of singles to earn his fifth victory of the season.

A day later, he pitched the final 3 1/3 innings of OU’s 9-6 win, allowing just one hit and striking out three to pick up his first save as a Sooner.

Campbell also threw 2 1/3 innings in a midweek non-conference Bedlam game at Oklahoma State and allowed just two hits and an earned run.

OU is scheduled to play at home against Oral Roberts on Tuesday night.
