2025 In-State DB and Oklahoma Target Trystan Haynes Earns Alabama Offer

Trystan Haynes, a rising junior from Oklahoma City who has garnered interest from the Sooners, is beginning to rack up an impressive offer list after a solid spring showing.
In this story:

Carl Albert 2025 defensive back Trystan Haynes received a scholarship offer from Alabama on Monday afternoon.

The Crimson Tide's offer comes almost four months after Oklahoma showed its interest in the Oklahoma City native, offering Haynes in late January.

The 2025 defensive back is listed at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds and has long arms that help him disrupt opposing wide receivers.

Last season at Carl Albert, Haynes played both wideout and defensive back in addition to showing off his remarkable speed as a punt returner. The Titans' standout has picked up nine offers already, including Kansas State, TCU, Iowa State and Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Conference.

Oklahoma's offer held special meaning for him.

"It meant a lot, you know, watching them growing up," Haynes said when asked about being offered by OU. "Me (and Carl Albert teammates) Trynae (Washington) and (Xavier Robinson) got offered at the same time so we were all excited in the car too. It was a good experience."

Aside from the fact that he grew up watching the Sooners, Haynes is a fan of the style that Oklahoma's defense employs. Keeping such a talented prospect in state would be huge for Brent Venables and his staff, who seemingly covet taller defensive backs.

"They like to play a lot of [man-to-man coverage] and I like to play a lot of man. I think it meshes well," the OU target said. "They like to think before they make actions, and I feel like having a brain on defense means a lot too."

Haynes is rated the No. 4 player in OK by 247Sports, ranked No. 210 in the nation according to the site's composite rankings. Currently a 4-star, Haynes said at the C4 Pro Day that he hadn't heard from Oklahoma since attending the Sooners' spring game on April 22.

Haynes said that over the summer, he is hoping to improve his technique, adding that he believes Carl Albert is capable of taking home another state championship.

"I'm trying to focus on improving my technique on defense because I know that I can break on the ball or lock somebody up in man," he said. "I'm trying to improve my technique so that it fits better and looks better."
