Kobe Black, a 5-star defensive back in the 2024 class from Waco Connally (TX) High School, announced on Twitter Wednesday that he will take one of his five official visits to Norman on June 9.

According to 247Sports, Black is the No. 2 CB and the No. 25 player in the nation. The standout defender's impressive performance as a junior earned him an invitation to the Under Armour All-American Game.

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, Black fits Jay Valai and Brent Venables' preference for taller defensive backs on the perimeter. The Texas Longhorns, however, are currently the heavy favorite to land the Waco native, making way for a classic Red River recruiting battle.

If the Sooners are able to pry Black away from his home state, it would be another massive victory on the recruiting trail for Venables and company, who managed to sign 5-star DB Peyton Bowen in the 2023 class.

Black has visited Norman multiple times after being offered by the Oklahoma in January, stating on Twitter that he had a "great visit" in both cases. On March 6, Black announced that the Sooners were in his top 11 schools, along with Oregon, TCU, USC, Texas, Ohio State, Florida, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Alabama and LSU.

Black's father played football for Kansas State and his older brother, Korie, is currently on Oklahoma State's roster. As a junior, Black helped lead Waco Connally to a 9-3 record, going 4-0 within the district.

In addition to OU, Black has visits scheduled visits with Texas and Ohio State, leaving stiff competition for the Oklahoma staff. With the talented DB scheduled to be on campus, the Sooners will have another chance to impress Black, along with multiple other big-time recruits who will be on campus at the same time.

On Tuesday, 5-star 2024 DL Williams Nwaneri announced that he will also take an official visit to OU on June 9.
