Oklahoma added another to the preseason watch lists on Friday when sophomore Austin Stogner was named to the John Mackey Award watch list.

Six college football awards have released preseason watch lists so far, and there’s a Sooner on five: Stogner, defensive end Ronnie Perkins (Chuck Bendarik), receiver Charleston Rambo (Fred Biletnikoff), running back Kennedy Brooks (Doak Walker) and linebacker Caleb Kelly (Ronnie Lott).

Only the Davey O'Brien Quarterback Award does not have a Sooner on its watch list yet because its preseason requirements are for the quarterback to have made a collegiate start. Neither of OU's contenders, Spencer Rattler or Tanner Mordecai, has started a game yet.

The 6-foot-6, 251-pound Stogner, from Plano, Texas, played in all 14 games as a true freshman and caught seven passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

His two scoring grabs came in the same game against Baylor as Stogner helped the Sooners turn a 28-3 deficit in Waco into a 34-31 victory over the Bears. It was the largest comeback in school history, largely thanks to Stogner’s TD catches of 5 and 3 yards. He also scored a touchdown off a blocked punt against West Virginia.

The Mackey Award goes to the top tight end in college football.

  • Jim Thorpe Award — July 20
  • Outland Trophy — July 21
  • Nagurski Award — July 21
  • Groza Award — July 22
