BREAKING: Oklahoma Lands 4-Star DB Jaydan Hardy

Brent Venables and the Sooner coaching staff have placed a heavy emphasis on recruiting from the spring game, and that philosophy has already begun to pay off.

Oklahoma's spring game recruiting surge is underway.

Jaydan Hardy, a 5-foot-10 safety from Lewisville, TX, committed to OU on Saturday. The 2024 prospect is expected to be the first of a handful of verbal commitments directly from this weekend's annual Red/White Game.

The son of former Tennessee standout Darryl Hardy, Jaydan Hardy picked the Sooners over interest from the Volunteers as well as offers from Alabama, Oregon, LSU, Florida, Miami, Texas, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Baylor and others.

As a junior at Lewisville High School, Hardy was credited with seven pass breakups, two forced fumbles, an interception and 42 tackles. He played just five games in 2021 and made 24 tackles with five passes defensed, and as a freshman in 2020 was credited with 61 stops to go with two interceptions, one fumble recovery and one fumble forced.

Much like Brent Venables' defensive back signees in the 2023 recruiting class, Hardy exhibited great versatility as a junior.

He was used at different spots in the secondary as well as playing wide receiver and wildcat quarterback in short yardage situations as a junior.

Rated a 4-star recruit by both 247Sports and Rivals, Hardy is the No. 12 overall safety in the country per 247Sports and No. 14 per the 247 Sports composite ranking. He spent spring of 2022 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL.

Hardy is OU’s fourth commit in the 2024 class, joining fellow defensive back Jeremiah Newcombe as well as quarterback Michael Hawkins and wide receiver K.J. Daniels.
