One more morning start for the SEC-bound flagships.ย

The 2023 Red River Rivalry game between No. 14 Oklahoma and No. 3 Texas will kick off at 11 a.m. in Dallas.

The Big 12 announced the kickoff time for the conference's premier rivalry game on Monday.

Since 2000, the classic showdown between the Sooners and Longhorns has kicked off at 11 a.m. 16 times. The last Red River Rivalry game that kicked off at a time other than 11 a.m. was in 2017, a 2:30 p.m. start in whichย Baker Mayfield threw a long touchdown pass to Mark Andrews to clinch the game for OU.

This season's matchup will feature two teams ranked in the top 15 heading into week five. If both squads can muster a win this Saturday, it will set up a meeting between two highly ranked 5-0 teams at the historic Cotton Bowl Stadium .ย

The 2023 meeting will be televised on ABC, giving a national audience the chance to see one of the best rivalries in all of college football. After a disappointing season and abysmal performance in last year's Red River Rivalry, the Sooners seem poised to make the year's matchup much harder on the Longhorns.

In 2022, Oklahoma was without starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel after the left-hander suffered a head injury the week prior against TCU. This led to Davis Beville getting the start, and heย finished 6-of-12 for 38 yards and an interception.

With Gabriel healthy, a better wide receiver core and a drastically better defense this season, OU should be able to at least compete with Quinn Ewers and company in 2023.ย

Still, Texas will be a difficult matchup for the Sooners, as the Horns have already shown that they can handle high-level opponents in tough atmospheres after taking down Alabama in Tuscaloosa earlier this year.
