Oklahoma Adds 4-star DL to 2024 Class
Wyatt Gilmore, a 4-star defensive lineman from Rogers, MN, has committed to Oklahoma.
The coveted pass rusher announced his decision on Twitter Wednesday evening.
Gilmore is potentially the first domino to fall in what could be a historic defensive line class for the Sooners, who are still aiming to land 5-star trench players Williams Nwaneri and David Stone. Gilmore is one of the top 20 defensive lineman in the nation and the best player in Minnesota, according to Rivals.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, Gilmore marks OU's tenth commitment in the 2024 cycle. The Rogers Senior High School product holds more than 15 offers, but cut his list to Kansas State, Oregon, Miami, Minnesota and Oklahoma on May 28.
Earning a win on the recruiting trail over Dan Lanning and the Ducks is huge for Brent Venables and the Sooners, who lost out on 4-star defensive lineman Xadavien Sims last month when the Durant (OK) star chose Oregon over OU.
On June 1, Gilmore announced that he would be taking an official visit to all five of his top schools. Gilmore visited Norman for the ChampU BBQ earlier this month, reportedly loving his time on campus.
The 4-star lineman's final visit was to Eugene, giving the Ducks staff hope that they would be able to change Gilmore's mind after his successful visit to Oklahoma.
Earlier in the evening, the Sooners received another piece of good news, as 4-star defensive back target Mykel Patterson-McDonald included the Sooners in his top four alongside UNLV, Missouri and Houston. The Westmoore DB also took an official visit to OU earlier this month and was recently in Las Vegas visiting the Rebels.
Last night after Xavier Robinson's commitment, the Carl Albert running back said that he would like to get Patterson-McDonald on board in the 2024 class. Rated one of the top three players in Oklahoma according to Rivals, Patterson-McDonald is childhood freinds with fellow Sooners' targets Stone and Caden Durham.
If Patterson-McDonald chooses OU, he would be continuing the legacy left by his father, who walked on at Oklahoma during his time in college.
