Oklahoma Coach Brent Venables Updates Dillon Gabriel, Jalil Farooq Injury Status

Both Sooners left the game Saturday with what appeared to be head injuries in OU's 31-24 victory at BYU.

NORMAN — Oklahoma coach Brent Venables on Monday issued a brief update on the injury status of his quarterback and top wide receiver.

Dillon Gabriel, the Sooners’ award-winning QB, was injured late in the first half of OU’s 31-24 win last Saturday at BYU. Farooq was hit hard on a fourth-quarter reception that clinched the game on a throw from Gabriel’s backup, Jackson Arnold.

Both players seemed to suffer head injuries, although OU has not disclosed the severity of those.

OU hosts TCU this week in the regular-season finale.

“Feel like both those guys will, if they continue to progress throughout the week, that they’ll be available this weekend,” Venables said.

OU and TCU kick off at 11 a.m. Friday at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
