Oklahoma in Contention for 5-star 2025 DB Dorian Brew
After earning a commitment from Alexander Shieldnight just six days ago, Oklahoma is in contention for one of the top players in the 2025 recruiting class.
On Thursday afternoon, 5-star cornerback Dorian Brew announced his top 10 schools; with Oklahoma, Michigan, Florida, Texas A&M, Oregon, Penn State, TCU, Florida State, Texas and Ohio State making the cut.
Brew is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound DB from Conroe, TX, who is the son of two decorated collegiate sprinters. Brew's father, Derrick, ran track at LSU and won a gold medal in the 2004 Olympic Games.
Donica Merriman, Brew's mother, was a sprinter at Ohio State and is in the school's Athletics Hall of Fame. Brew is also a speedster, and has clocked a personal best 10.75 in the 100-meter dash.
For comparison, current Sooners' wideout Gavin Freeman ran a personal best 10.81 in the 100-meter dash during his days at Heritage Hall (OK).
Brew is rated the No. 21 overall prospect and the No. 4 cornerback in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
The former Northmont (OH) standout is in his first season of Texas high school football after moving from Clayton, OH, to the Houston area prior to the 2023 regular season.
If Brent Venables and company are able to land a commitment from Brew, he would be Oklahoma's the fourth defensive pledge in the 2025 recruiting class, joining Shieldnight, Marcus James and Ka'Mori Moore.
OU currently sits at No. 4 in the 2025 class rankings with eight total commits.
