On Thursday morning, 3-star offensive lineman Daniel Akinkunmi committed to Oklahoma.

The London native chose the Sooners over Clemson, Baylor, Miami and Mississippi, giving Bill Bedenbaugh his fourth pledge in this year's recruiting cycle.

Akinkunmi is the No. 23 offensive tackle in the 2024 recruiting class, according to Rivals. The NFL Academy star holds nearly 30 offers, but cut his list down to five in early September.

A week prior to revealing his top five, Akinkunmi visited Norman to see OU take down Arkansas State 73-0.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, Oklahoma's newest commitment is a very versatile offensive lineman who has the potential to be a utility player in the trenches, meaning he could fill in for any spot on the line.

Being skilled enough to play all five positions on the offensive line is a coveted trait for coaches like Bedenbaugh. If Akinkunmi develops under the Sooners' o-line coach like other physically talented prospects have, he could be an extremely value piece in the trenches with his versatility.

An Under Armour All-American, Akinkunmi is rated the No. 1 player in Europe.

The talented offensive lineman joins Josh Aisosa, Eugene Brooks and Isaiah Autry in Bedenbaugh's 2024 unit. Overall, Akinkunmi is the 24th scholarship player in Oklahoma's 2024 class, which was ranked inside the top 10 by all three major recruiting services prior to the Sooners most recent addition.

With Eddy Pierre-Louis and Grant Brix still uncommitted, OU's coaching staff its sights set on a few more trench players in this year's recruiting cycle.
