Oklahoma Lands Coveted 2025 WR Commitment

The Sooners doubled the size of their 2025 recruiting class on Monday afternoon.

Oklahoma’s hot streak on the recruiting trail continued on Monday.

Gracen Harris, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound wide receiver from Ennis, TX, committed to the Sooners as a member of the 2025 recruiting class.

He chose OU over offers from Florida State, TCU, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Baylor and others.

Harris is rated a 4-star recruit by both 247Sports and Rivals, and got his offer from OU in late January.

Harris joins quarterback Kevin Sperry as the Sooners’ first commitments in the 2025 class.

Throughout his high school career, Harris has been incredibly productive.

Using his speed to shake defenders in the open field, he’s already posted a pair of 1,000-yard seasons.

Last year, Harris hauled in 66 catches for 1,027 yards and seven scores, and in 2021 he caught 78 passes for 1,228 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Harris apparently liked what he saw at the OU spring game last week.

Harris is unique among OU recruits in that he's also a Division I baseball recruit. OU is the only school among his 12 football offers to also offer him in baseball.

Harris is also an accomplished track athlete, including the triple jump, where he won the district this year for the Lions.

The Sooners are now ahead of schedule in the 2025 recruiting class, having already landed the core of the group — a quarterback.

Harris’ addition gets Oklahoma started early, especially with Brent Venables’ patient approach to recruiting.

Things heated up for the Sooners last summer, and they’re already outpacing that in the 2024 class as well.

OU currently has six verbal commitments in the 2024 cycle, ahead of where it was exiting spring practice in 2022.

New wide receivers coach Emmett Jones is hard at work rebuilding his room.

The Sooners added Andrel Anthony from Michigan last winter, and swooped back into the transfer portal for Texas’ Brenen Thompson in the post-spring transfer portal window.

Oklahoma already has a pair of pass catchers committed in the 2024 class, as well as Harris on board a year later in 2025.
