Oklahoma Lands Local 4-Star CB Prospect

The Sooners' newest commit, Devon Jordan, is a fearless hitter at Tulsa Union, where he's emerged as one of the top players in the state.

Oklahoma has added to its increasingly impressive 2024 recruiting haul.

The Sooners on Friday landed a verbal commitment from Devon Jordan, a 4-star cornerback prospect from Union High School in Tulsa.

Jordan announced his pledge on Twitter.

The standout cornerback holds nearly 15 offers, but chose OU over big-time programs like Alabama, TCU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State and others.

Jordan is 5-foot-11 and 168 pounds but plays with a fearless velocity and seems to relish contact.

Over the summer, AllSooners caught up with Oklahoma's newest DB commit at Bixby's team camp, where Jordan talked about what set OU apart from the other schools on his list.

"I have a strong relationship with Coach (Jay) Valai," Jordan said. "Coach Valai, he actually flew down in a private jet to come see me workout. ... When I went to the spring game, Coach (Brent) Venables, he actually brought me down to the field. I was the only recruit that got to come to the middle of the field. ... It meant a lot to me."

According to 247 Sports, Jordan rates as a 3-star prospect, but his 247Sports Composite Ranking — which includes rankings from Rivals, On3 and ESPN — rate him as a 4-star, the No. 35 cornerback in the country and the No. 4 overall player in the state of Oklahoma.

Jordan joins Jaydan Hardy, Eli Bowen, Mykel Patterson-McDonald and Jeremiah Newcombe and Michael Boganowski in the Sooners' 2024 defensive back room, and joins Boganowski as OU's second commit in as many days.

With the Union product now on board, OU has 26 scholarship players committed in this year's recruiting cycle.
