Jackson marks the 13th commitment in the 2024 recruiting cycle for the Sooners, joining fellow 4-star Wyatt Gilmore along the defensive line. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 300 pounds, Jackson is rated one of the top 10 defensive lineman and top 200 players in the nation according to Rivals.
"Brent Venables, I know he's going to change this program and build it from the ground up," Jackson said on 247Sports YouTube channel after his commitment.
OU was included in the IMG Academy (FL) standout's top five last week, beating out Texas, Ohio State, Miami and Florida for the interior defensive lineman. Gaining a commitment from Jackson is huge for Oklahoma, who will need players of his size and stature once they enter the SEC.
Additionally, Jackson is an important piece of the Sooners' 2024 recruiting puzzle because he is teammates with 5-star defensive line target and Oklahoma City native, David Stone. With Jackson now on board, it seems even more likely that Stone will end up in Norman.
Earlier this week, Stone took to Twitter to vouch for Jackson, saying he was the best nose guard in the country.
If you know ball bro is definitely the BEST Nose/DT in the country! Definitely top 10 DL as a whole. https://t.co/XPCyW1HKtv

With Jackson and Gilmore now on board and Stone potentially joining the group, Brent Venables and company could finish the 2024 recruiting cycle with one of the best defensive line classes in school history. Williams Nwaneri, Nigel Smith and Dominick McKinley are all still heavily considering OU, and a commitment from one of the aforementioned players would silence any remaining doubters that Venables and company are having trouble bringing in prospects in the 2024 class.
As the Sooners enter the SEC, they will need even more tough prospects like Jackson who can fill gaps and stuff the run as well as push the pocket on pass plays.
