Oklahoma QB Commit Michael Hawkins Earns Invitation to Elite 11 Finals

After an impressive showing at a Nike regional camp, Sooners pledge and 4-star 2024 QB Michael Hawkins was invited to the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles.

On Thursday, Frisco Emerson QB Michael Hawkins was selected to participate in the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles June 14-16.

Hawkins is a 4-star prospect according to both ESPN and Rivals, lauded as the No. 2 QB in the nation on Rivals' recruiting database. The 6-foot-2 dual threat quarterback committed to OU in April, choosing the Sooners over Alabama and Michigan, among others.

The timing of the Elite 11 could cause a slight scheduling conflict for Hawkins, who previously mentioned on Twitter that he would be taking an official visit to Norman June 16-18.

The Elite 11 is a high school showcase competition specifically for quarterbacks, where the top signal callers from around the country put their skills on display before one QB is ultimately crowned Elite 11 MVP. Former Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler won the award in 2018 with current Sooner Jackson Arnold taking home MVP honors at last year's event.

Nike holds eight regional camps around the nation for QBs to compete at, with the top performers from each region moving on to the final event in Los Angeles.

Bryce Young, CJ Stroud and Anthony Richardson, three gunslingers who were selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, all competed in the Elite 11 during their high school days. Going back even further, future NFL Hall of Famers Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers competed in the event in its early days.

Hawkins being selected to compete in the Elite 11 Finals is a good indication that Oklahoma's QB room will remain stocked with talent. Sooner fans have grown accustomed to great play from whoever is under center, and it appears that Hawkins is poised to continue this legacy.

With 2025 QB commit Kevin Sperry entering his junior season in 2023, OU could a commit find their way to the Elite 11 finals in three consecutive recruiting cycles.
