Oklahoma has revealed its depth chart for the Alamo Bowl, and there are plenty of surprises and new faces.

In addition to true freshman Jackson Arnold scheduled to get his first career start at quarterback, the Sooners have two first-time starters on the offensive line and three true freshman as top o-line backups.

Seniors Walter Rouse (left tackle) and McKade Mettauer (right guard) resume their usual spots, flanked by left guard Caleb Shaffer, center Troy Everett and right tackle Jacob Sexton.

Sexton started the last three games of the regular season at right tackle as he replaced Tyler Guyton.

Shaffer, a transfer from Miami-Ohio, played just 109 snaps in seven games this season. Everett, a transfer from Appalachian State, played 311 snaps in nine games.

True freshmen Logan Howland (left tackle), Heath Ozaeta (left guard) and Josh Bates (center) are listed as the top backups, while Shaffer is the backup at right guard and sophomore Jake Taylor is Sexton’s backup at right tackle.

Sooners o-line coach Bill Bedenbaugh has undergone a roster overhaul since the end of the regular season, with starters Andrew Raym (center) and Guyton (right tackle) opting out for the NFL Draft and former starter Savion Byrd and several backups hitting the transfer portal.

With starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel transferred to Oregon, last year’s backup, Davis Beville, is now the No. 2 QB behind Arnold. General Booty is third string.

The only other mild surprise starter is on defense, where Jaren Kanak has apparently resumed his role as OU’s starting middle linebacker next to weak side Linebacker Danny Stutsman instead of Kip Lewis. Lewis emerged as a starter at will backer and replaced Kanak down the stretch of the season. Kanak played 559 snaps this season, while Lewis played 327.

Dasan McCullough is listed as the starting cheetah linebacker ahead of Kendel Dolby.

Gentry Williams is back as the starting cornerback opposite senior Woodi Washington. Williams battled a shoulder injury all season and finished with 342 defensive snaps in nine games.

With Key Lawrence transferred to Ole Miss, senior Reggie Pearson is listed as the starter at free safety ahead of Robert Spears-Jennings. Billy Bowman is the starter at strong safety ahead of freshman Peyton Bowen

There were no changes on special teams.
