Oklahoma WR Jahsiear Rogers Dismissed From Team

In this story:
NORMAN — Oklahoma freshman wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers has been dismissed from the team, a Sooners spokesman confirmed Thursday.
Rogers had played in just one game — the opener against UTEP, where he played six snaps.
Rogers came to Oklahoma as a highly touted prospect, a four-star recruit according to both 247Sports and Rivals.
"With the ball in his hands, he can score at any point in time," Sooners coach Brent Venables said of Rogers on signing day in December.
He starred in high school at Appoquinimink High School in Wilmington, Del., where he earned first-team all-state honors as a junior in 2024 and second-team honors as a senior last season.
He had 37 catches for 877 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior.
Rogers initially committed to Penn State, but flipped to the Sooners in late October 2025 shortly after James Franklin was fired as the Nittany Lions coach.
"He's a really good player," fellow wide receiver Isaiah Sategna said of Rogers earlier this season. "Shoot, he can high-point the ball. He likes to go get that ball and he's really fast. I would say another thing for him is just the details, you know. Details, details, details. You see how it keeps popping up."
But Rogers never materialized as a playmaker for the Sooners. He didn't record a catch during his lone appearance this season.
Oklahoma's wide receiver group has struggled to find consistent production in recent years outside of Sategna, who has 20 catches for 267 yards and two touchdowns so far this season.
Tight end Rocky Beers is the Sooners' second-leading receiver with 18 catches for 255 yards and two touchdowns.
The next-leading receiver is Virginia transfer Trell Harris, who has six catches for 104 yards and a a touchdown but who has injured in the loss to Michigan and who is out again this Saturday when Oklahoma takes on Texas. Whether or not Harris will be able to return this season remains unknown.
Rogers' dismissal leaves the Sooners with three freshmen receivers — Daniel Odom, Jayden Petit, and Xavier Okwufulueze. Okwufulueze is the only other of the group to appear in a game for Oklahoma so far, playing two offensive snaps against UTEP in the opener.
The unranked Sooners take on No. 1 Texas at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. The Longhorns have beaten Oklahoma in each of the last two seasons.
