Seth McGowan, a former 4-star recruit and running back at Oklahoma, was sentenced to a year of probation on Wednesday for actions dating back to 2021, according to a report from the OU Daily

In May of that year, the Mesquite, TX, native was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon by a Cleveland County District Court after he and two other members of the OU football team allegedly robbed a man who refused to sell McGowan marijuana in April of 2021.

In December, McGowan pleaded guilty to larceny of a person at nighttime while the other charges mounted against the former Sooners' tailback were dismissed.

According to the OU Daily's report, McGowan was set to enter a regimented inmate discipline program, but refused access to the program by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Instead, Cleveland County District Judge Thad Balkman decided that McGowan will attend Narcotics Anonymous or Alcoholic Anonymous meetings three times each week for the next year in addition to a substance abuse follow up and evaluation for the same time period, according to The Daily.

McGowan will also have to complete 60 hours of community service, pay $250 to a victims compensation fund and pay an additional $200 dollars after being fined by the aforementioned judge, the report said.

Trejan Bridges and Mikey Henderson, the other two Oklahoma football players present for the alleged drug-related crime, attended and completed the RID program and were also sentenced to their own year-long probation in January of 2024, The Daily reported

McGowan spent the 2023 football season at Butler Community College in El Dorado, KS, where he appeared in six games, recording 39 carries for 125 yards and four touchdowns.
