The 2023 fiscal year was huge for Oklahoma.

In an NCAA financial report obtained by Sooners Illustrated, OU set an athletics department revenue record in 2023.

Per the report obtained by Sooners Illustrated in a public records request, Oklahoma reported a total operating revenue of $199,250,570 for the fiscal year.

The 2023 fiscal year extended from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.

USA Today reported that Oklahoma posted a total revenue of $177,320,217 for the 2022 fiscal year.

The Sooners raked in a record $48,206,341 in ticket sales, with 89 percent of that coming from football, five percent from men’s basketball and three percent coming from softball.

Oklahoma’s move to Love’s Field in 2024 will more than double the prior seating capacity for Marita Hynes Field, greatly increasing the revenue possibilities for Patty Gasso’s machine.

OU also reported $60,705,640 in contributions to the athletic department, which paired with a $27,180,240 media rights distribution from the Big 12 Conference.

Yesterday, the Southeastern Conference announced its 2023 media distribution, which amounted to an average of $51.3 million per school.

That number should only increase as Oklahoma and Texas enter the SEC, as well as ESPN’s deal to take over CBS’ game of the week during football broadcasts of the conference this fall.

OU also set a new mark for expenditures in 2023.

Oklahoma reported total operations expenses of $198,975,224 according to the document obtained by Sooners Illustrated.

The Sooners’ revenue should see another uptick once again with the impending SEC move, as OU’s athletics department continues to thrive.
