Davon Mitchell doesn’t seem concerned with who’s calling plays at Oklahoma.

Minutes after offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby’s hiring was announced at Mississippi State on Sunday, the Sooners’ star tight end commitment reaffirmed his pledge to OU.

“I’m locked in,” he posted on Twitter, with a “100” and a “lock” emoji. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Just three days ago, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound senior at Los Alamitos, CA, announced he was still firm to OU's 2024 class.

According to the On3 composite rankings, Mitchell is the No. 92 overall player in the country, the No. 9 tight end and the No. 8 player in the state of California, while the 247 Sports composite ranks him No. 76, No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. ESPN ranks him No. 55 overall, No. 3 at his position and No. 5 in the state.

Mitchell reclassified from the 2025 class and has formed a bond with 2024 quarterback Michael Hawkins, as well as with OU tight ends coach Joe Jon Finley. It's been widely speculated that Finley might be joining Lebby in Starkville, which would create a cloudy picture for Mitchell about his position coach at OU.

Head coach Brent Venables would prefer to replace only one coach next season and will likely try hard to keep Finley, himself a former Sooner, on the OU staff.
