With all the recent success Brent Venables and his staff at Oklahoma have had recently, Sunday’s news is no surprise.

Danny Okoye, a 2024 edge rusher from Tulsa and a consensus 4-star prospect according to Rivals and On3, dropped his top six schools on Sunday afternoon, and the Sooners made the cut.

Okoye also has Tennessee, Colorado, Texas, Alabama and LSU in his top six.

Okoye, who is homeschooled and plays for the Northeast Oklahoma Association of Homeschools (NOAH), is the No. 3-ranked player in the state of Oklahoma, per 247 Sports, No. 2 according to Rivals and No. 1 says On3.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Okoye is preparing for his senior season at NOAH after two productive seasons already.

As a sophomore in 2021, Okoye compiled 78 total tackles, including 21 tackles for loss, 10.5 quarterback sacks, one fumble recovery and two fumbles forced. He also returned a punt for a touchdown.

As a junior in 2022, Okoye recorded 43 tackles with 16 TFLs, six sacks, one forced fumble and one interception while also getting 20 touches on offense (14 rushes for 64 yards, six catches for 58 yards) and scoring two touchdowns.
