The final Oklahoma player in the transfer without a team has found his new home.

Senior forward Jacob Groves, who spent the previous two seasons with the Sooners, announced on Tuesday evening that he has committed to Virginia.

Of the six OU players to hit the portal, Groves becomes the one and only player to transfer to another Power Five program despite having been only a bench player for Porter Moser down the stretch of last season.

Last year in 32 games, the Washington native made 22 starts averaging 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.

Groves began the year as a starter for the Sooners, but eventually was moved to the bench in the later part of the season after struggling to find consistent offense.

After Moser took the head coaching job at Oklahoma following the retirement of Lon Kruger in 2021, both Jacob Groves and his brother Tanner Groves became the first pair of transfers to join Moser’s first team coming over from Eastern Washington.

Tanner finished his eligibility last season, but the younger Jacob still had a year to play with - and will be using it in the ACC to become a member of the one the most consistent programs in the league and country with the Cavaliers.

Last season, Virginia sported a 25-8 overall record with a 15-5 conference mark - good enough for a share of the league regular season title.

However, despite a strong regular season campaign, the Cavaliers were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in upset fashion by Furman.

Now, head coach Tony Bennett adds Groves to his squad as they look to return to the tournament and this time go on a run.
