Oklahoma’s basketball season officially came to an end on Selection Sunday.

Entering the weekend with no chance of earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, Porter Moser’s Sooners had to wait to see if they could backdoor their way into the NIT.

Porter Moser said last week he was eager to keep competing, but that won't happen as the NIT didn't invite the Sooners.

OU finishes the year 15-17 after ending the regular season dead last in the Big 12 standings.

After the dust settled on conference tournament weekend, the Sooners finished as the No. 68-ranked team in the NCAA NET Rankings.

Oklahoma was a dreadful 2-8 on the road, and finished 6-14 in Quad 1 games as Moser’s team struggled to contend in the Big 12.

In the most shocking result of the entire college basketball season, the Sooners upset the Alabama Crimson Tide 93-69 at the Lloyd Noble Center on Jan. 28.

Alabama lost only two more games the rest of the way, winning the SEC regular season and the SEC Tournament, and would go on to end up as the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

OU, on the other hand, was unable to capitalize on the resume builder.

Oklahoma never strung consecutive victories together in conference play, last won back-to-back games in December, and closed the season by putting up its worst offensive showing of the entire year.

On Wednesday in the Big 12 Tournament, Oklahoma State beat the Sooners for the third time this year, a 57-49 slugfest that left neither fanbase with a smile and ended Year Two for Moser at Oklahoma.

Last year, OU finished the year in the NIT and beat Missouri State in a first-round game. But the Sooners were knocked out of the tournament by St. Bonaventure in a second-round game at Lloyd Noble Center.

Tanner Groves is the only member of the current roster that is out of eligibility, as he has expended his extra year granted by the COVID season, but every other Sooner is able to return to the team next season.
