Wednesday marked National Signing Day for college football teams around the country, leaving many staffs busy to prepare for their incoming class.

In addition to the signing day pandamonium, however, Brent Venables and company still remained active on the recruiting trail. Not only were the Sooners able to sign all 27 of their committed 2024 prospects, but Oklahoma also added another player through the transfer portal and offered another transfer target and a high school recruit.

Transfer portal

On Monday, OU picked up a big-time addition through the transfer portal when Southeastern Louisiana transfer tight end Bauer Sharp announced that he is headed to Norman.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds, Sharp originally played quarterback for the Lions before switching to tight end. In 2023, the versatile playmaker tallied 133 rushing yards and five touchdowns in addition to 29 catches for 288 yards and three touchdowns.

According to PFF, Sharp was the third-highest graded FCS tight end this year. The former high school quarterback was also named  FCS Third-Team All-American for his efforts as a redshirt sophomore.

With Austin Stogner's career at Oklahoma coming to a close, Jason Llewellyn already in the transfer portal and the rest of OU's tight end room having almost no experience or production, Joe Jon Finley and company desperately needed to add a veteran presence into the position group.

Sharp is expected to battle with incoming freshman Davon Mitchell for a spot as the team's primary tight end in 2024.

In addition to Sharp, the Sooners also extended an offer to Albany defensive line transfer Anton Juncaj

Listed at 6-3 and 273 pounds, Juncaj had a remarkable season for the Great Danes in 2023, recording 55 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, five forced fumbles and three pass breakups.

This impressive season included a two-sack performance against FBS opponent Hawaii in September.

Juncaj would be a huge addition to Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis' d-line room, as Reggie Grimes and Kelvin Gilliam are already in the transfer portal and Isaiah Coe, Jordan Kelley and Rondell Bothroyd are all out of eligibility after this season.

High school recruiting

Aside from the 27-player class that the Sooners signed on Wednesday, Venables and company still had time to extend a scholarship offer to one high school prospect.

On Thursday, 3-star 2025 athlete Seaonta Stewart picked up an offer from the Sooners.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, Stewart holds offers from Tennessee, Penn State and others following his junior season.

Primarily playing cornerback, Stewart hails from Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati, OH.
