OU Softball: Oklahoma Pitcher Lands First Big 12 Honor

Alex Storako, who pitched 11 scoreless innings at the Mary Nutter Classic, had plenty of success in the Big Ten, but this was her first accolade from the Big 12.

Oklahoma’s newest pitcher got a nice welcome to the Big 12 Conference.

Alex Storako, OU’s senior transfer from Michigan, is the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Storako helped OU to a dominant weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, where the Sooners went 5-0 and outscored their opponents 50-4, including a 14-0 victory against then-No. 1 UCLA.

Storako threw a complete-game shutout of the Bruins on Sunday, surrendering no walks and just three hits to go with five strikeouts.

The right-hander was just as good against Loyola Marymount on Saturday, as she entered a bases-loaded jam and retired the side with a pair of strikeouts.

She also threw four scoreless innings against Cal State Fullerton on Friday.

For the weekend, Storako — a two-time All-Big Ten pitcher — logged two wins in three appearances while striking out a 11 batters with no runs allowed, one walk and six hits.

So far this season, Storako is 4-0 in the circle in 2023 with an ERA of 0.34 with 26 strikeouts.
