After dropping the first two games of the season, things started to look a bit bleak for Cowboy baseball. They needed a win badly, and they got exactly that on Sunday against Sam Houston State. The Pokes plated seven runs in the third inning and never looked back. Oklahoma State would go on to win the game 19-2, showcasing utter dominance the whole way through.

Oklahoma State tallied 23 hits over the course of the game, more than doubling the amount that they have had in the last two games combined (11). The Cowboys nearly pitched a shutout, with the Bearkats' only runs coming in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The pitching staff had an excellent day today with Janzen Keisel picking up the W in five innings of work. Keisel struck out six batters and walked three over the course of five innings, only allowing three hits. Ryan Bogusz, Brennan Phillips, and Bryson Hudgens would combine for four innings of work, allowing seven hits and two runs.

The bats were clearly hot today, but perhaps none were hotter than the bat of Zach Ehrhard. Ehrhard went 3/4 at the plate, including a home run. He finished with two RBIs and also drew a walk. Outfielder Carson Benge also had a big day, going 4/5 whilst driving in four runs.

All in all, Oklahoma State did exactly what it needed to do today to get the season back on the right track. They showed everybody just how good this team can be when everything is clicking. If they can stay a bit more consistent, they will be a massive threat come summertime.

Notable Players

Janzen Keisel - W, 5.0 IP, 3 HA, 6 SO

Carson Benge - 4H, 2R, 4 RBIs

Zach Ehrhard - 3H, 3R, 2 RBIs, 1 HR
