OSU Baseball Duo Lands on Preseason All-Big 12 Team
College baseball is right around the corner, and preseason honors are being announced.
The Big 12 Conference released its Preseason All-Big 12 Team on Wednesday, and Oklahoma State's Carson Benge and Nolan Schubart were featured on the squad.
Schubart was one of six players who was a unanimous section, while Benge was slotted as a utility player.
Schubart had a stellar freshman season for the Cowboys last season. He finished with a .338 batting average with 17 home runs and 74 RBIs.
His season led to honors, for Schubart was named Big 12 Co-Freshman of the Year and an All-Big 12 First Team selection.
Benge, who was a pitcher and an outfielder last season, made an impact in a positive and negative way in both areas in 2023.
He posted a team-high .345 batting average last season, including 17 doubles, seven home runs and 43 RBIs.
Benge's pitching numbers were all over the place as he made 10 starts, finishing with a 2-2 record with a 6.69 ERA and 35 strikeouts last season for OSU.
Benge was another Cowboy who was honored in 2023 as he was named to the All-Big 12 First Team and a Freshman All-American last season. He was also named to Perfect Game's Preseason All-America Third Team for the 2024 season.
Both Schubart and Benge come in as sophomores this season, and they will be the main contributors for Josh Holliday and Oklahoma State.
As for the season, it begins on Feb. 16 when OSU travels to Huntsville, Texas to go up against Sam Houston.
The Cowboys' home opener will come on March 1, when it takes on Central Michigan at 4:00 p.m. at O'Brate Stadium.
