Oklahoma State’s men’s basketball schedule is out, and with it comes another 18 games of Big 12 action.

Last season, the Cowboys finished seventh in the conference with an 8-10 record, but next season will look much different. With four new teams in the mix in the Big 12, the Cowboys’ fight for a good record will be difficult as they try to make it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2021.

OSU will face each of the four Big 12 newcomers in 2024. OSU will travel to Houston, Cincinnati and Provo, along with hosting UCF and a second matchup against BYU.

The Cowboys will face every other Big 12 team next season with five opponents they will play against at home and on the road. Along with BYU, the Cowboys will face Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Kansas and Kansas State multiple times.

Those matchups with the Sooners will be the last on the schedule with OU heading to the SEC. Although Bedlam basketball is not as high-profile as the football rivalry, the Cowboys will have their chance to get the last laugh in Gallagher-Iba Arena on Feb. 24.

The other team headed to the SEC will not visit Stillwater in the upcoming season. OSU will face Texas just once in Austin on March 2.

OSU will open conference play at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Jan. 6 when Baylor visits Stillwater for their only matchup this season. The other recent national champion will visit the Cowboys on Jan. 16 for the Jayhawks’ first game against OSU.

The Cowboys went 5-4 at home in conference play last season and will look to take care of their home floor again this season. Although winning on the road in the Big 12 is tough, for the Cowboys to legitimately compete in the conference and arrive on the national stage again, they need to improve their 3-6 record in those contests.

With the makeup of the conference changing so drastically again next season, OSU’s schedule and travel will become even more hectic. So, OSU must take advantage of this schedule against mostly familiar opponents as they fight for positioning in maybe the toughest conference in college basketball.
