BREAKING: Four-Star Guard Commits to Oklahoma State
The Oklahoma State basketball program just landed another commitment. Four-star guard Jeremiah Johnson picked Oklahoma State over SMU, TCU, LSU and St. Louis.
The 2024 two-way guard is an Oklahoma native, having grown up in Norman. He played last season in Utah however, with Wasatch Academy. Now, he's on to Georgia for the upcoming basketball season, playing with Overtime Elite in Atlanta.
Before suffering injuries, the 6-foot-3 guard was a top 100 player in the 2024 class. He's an athletic guard with high scoring upside, and now gets to stay close to home as he'll make his way back to Oklahoma to play basketball.
The Cowboys' current iteration of guards is getting older. They're all in their fourth or fifth years, and Johnson would be able to come in and be a spark plug player early. He could either earn a key role in the rotation early or build off his freshman year to take the keys in year two.
Mike Boynton has been great at recruiting during his time in Stillwater, and this commitment only proves that. Putting things together on the court, however, has been a different story. Johnson will help Boynton potentially put together his best year yet in a very difficult Big 12 conference.
“I’m going to Oklahoma State it feels really good going back home," Johnson told 247Sports. "I’m also committing to a coach that really believes in me and has recruited me since I was in middle school and I get to be close to my family."
Johnson is the first player to commit to the Cowboys 2024 class, laying the groundwork for more players to make their way to Stillwater.
