Oklahoma State’s grueling Big 12 schedule is already causing problems.

OSU lost 90-73 against Texas Tech in Lubbock on Tuesday. After winning six of the past seven matchups, OSU could not keep up in its first conference road game.

After struggling early in the first half, Texas Tech quickly took control of the game once it took the lead. From there, OSU had multiple lengthy scoring droughts and failed to put up much of a fight, as it gave up more points than it had all season.

A 13-3 run midway through the second half helped Texas Tech open up a 21-point lead. That marked the game's largest lead and showed Texas Tech’s ability to strike from beyond the arc, finishing 7-of-13 from that range.

Among OSU’s troubles in Lubbock was its inability to match Texas Tech’s efficiency from outside. Making nine 3-pointers after struggling early, OSU shot 36% from that range.

Meanwhile, Texas Tech shot well from beyond the arc but also controlled the paint. It outscored OSU by 22 points in the paint and consistently got to the free throw line.

The Red Raiders wasted no time extending their lead to double digits with a bucket on their first possession of the second half. With the Cowboys needing a spark out of halftime, they scored only three points in the first five minutes.

After OSU opened up a nine-point lead in the first half, Texas Tech went on a 19-2 run and took its first lead. Pop Isaacs’ 3-pointer put Texas Tech in front, and it never trailed again.

The Red Raiders took a nine-point lead into halftime behind Isaacs’ 13 points. He went on to score 24 as one of five Red Raiders with at least 10 points.

Bryce Thompson and Javon Small were OSU’s leading scorers, scoring 17 and 15, respectively.

After their disappointing loss on Saturday, the Cowboys sprinted to an early lead. They scored the first seven points of the game and continued to hold a lead throughout the opening minutes. That included an 11-3 lead at the first timeout, with all five starters scoring already.

The Cowboys will look to get back on track at Iowa State on Saturday.
