Oklahoma State Offense Sputters in Senior Night Loss to Texas Tech
On senior night, Oklahoma State’s veterans could not avoid one of the worst games of their careers.
OSU lost to Texas Tech 75-58 at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Tuesday. OSU started by taking nearly five minutes to score, and it never got better for the home team.
OSU’s awful first-half performance stemmed from its lackluster offense. Texas Tech scored only nine points off OSU’s 10 first-half turnovers, but OSU’s offense was not necessarily better when it was able to get a shot up.
In the first 20 minutes, OSU shot 1-of-14 from 3-point range and 6-of-28 overall. Connor Dow was the only OSU player to shoot at least 50% in the first half, making his only shot.
The Cowboys looked to cut into the lead with a 7-2 run out of halftime, but the Red Raiders did not allow them to get much closer despite multiple attempts and cruised to a win.
Pop Isaacs provided an early boost for Texas Tech, scoring his team’s first five points. Finishing with 12 in the first half, Isaacs matched Darrion Williams as the half’s leading scorers, combining to outscore OSU’s 17-point half.
A 9-0 Red Raiders’ run in the first half pushed their lead to 16. John-Michael Wright tried to spark the Cowboys with a four-point play.
After his shot from beyond the arc cut the lead to 13, he missed the free throw, and the Red Raiders quickly pushed their lead back up. With an 8-0 run, the Red Raiders extended their lead to 23, the largest of the first half.
OSU’s offense started the game with a rough few minutes. Entering the first media timeout without scoring, Eric Dailey Jr.’s free throw was OSU’s first point before Javon Small made the team’s first field goal.
The Cowboys will finish their regular season on Saturday when they travel to Provo for a matchup with BYU.
