Oklahoma State Transfer Brandon Garrison Set to Visit Oklahoma This Weekend
Are the Sooners going to land another cross-Bedlam transfer? Oklahoma State transfer Brandon Garrison entered the transfer portal early in the period, and he could be finding his way south to Norman after leaving Stillwater.
The former Cowboy is going to visit Oklahoma this weekend, according to CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein.
Garrison, recruited by Mike Boynton, started 29 of his 32 games played this past season for Oklahoma State. With Boynton and the Cowboys parting ways after his seventh season with the program, it's no surprise the former McDonald's All-American hit the transfer portal.
The 6-foot-11 big man averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in 22.7 minutes per game. It's no shock he's interested in remaining in-state, as the former Oklahoma preps standout had a phenomenal career at Del City.
The potential cross-Bedlam transfer will be a big talking point across the two fanbases, but it'd be a great move for Porter Moser and the Sooners. Garrison fills a big void at the big man position for the Sooners, which would allow Moser to go all in on finding incredible guard play through the rest of the transfer portal opening.
For Oklahoma State, this move should be easy to get over. Boynton is gone, Steve Lutz is in and a new era is underway in Stillwater. Garrison gets a fresh start at a program mounting with pressure to make an NCAA Tournament.
While it would be easy for Cowboys fans to get angry over a potential transfer to Norman, it makes sense for Garrison in every aspect. The former Cowboy held an offer from the Sooners out of high school, too.
Garrison is one of the top big men in the entire college basketball transfer portal and his transfer is going to be big news no matter where he ends up.
