Oklahoma State's Game at Iowa State Pushed Back Amid Travel Issues
Oklahoma State’s struggles are not limited to the court this season.
With their game against Iowa State initially scheduled for a 5 PM tipoff, the Cowboys have run into travel struggles. Instead, the game against the Cyclones will tip off at 8 PM in Ames, according to Scott Pfeil.
After issues getting to Lubbock for their last game against Texas Tech on Tuesday, this has already been a rough road trip all around. OSU coach Mike Boynton posted about the struggles on Twitter Saturday afternoon.
“Couldn’t get out yesterday because of weather in Des Moines,” Boynton tweeted. “Left Stillwater this morning at 6am for OKC. Plane in OKC was grounded with maintenance shortly after we arrived.”
Following that debacle, Boynton tweeted that the team was told about a plane in Norman, but it was not a viable option because it was frozen. With a functioning plane in Oklahoma City, the team stayed there awaiting a crew.
With an hour-long bus ride to Ames after they land in Des Moines, the Cowboys’ chances of making it to Hilton Coliseum for a 5 PM tipoff were slim to none. Already entering the evening as 12.5-point underdogs, the Cowboys will need one of their best efforts of the season to win in Ames under these circumstances.
Iowa State is coming off a win against No. 2 Houston on Tuesday to give the Cyclones their first conference win and hand Houston its first loss. After a 17-point loss at Texas Tech, it’s not looking great for OSU to pull off an upset against Iowa State.
Considering the Cowboys’ upcoming schedule, which includes a matchup with No. 3 Kansas in Stillwater on Tuesday, this is a game that they can not afford to overlook.
