Rondel Walker Commits to Oklahoma State
STILLWATER -- The Oklahoma State faithful have been on pins and needles over the past few months regarding basketball recruiting. Well, Mike Boynton and Co. are back on the board after they received a Halloween commitment from four-star guard Rondel Walker.
Walker committed to the Pokes over Arkansas, Kansas State, Texas and Virginia Tech on a rather fitting holiday for wearing orange and black, don't you think?
Rondel Walker is a 6-2, 160-pound shooting guard out of Putnam City West in the 2020 class. It's long be predicted that Oklahoma State was the favorites to land Walker, one of the best prospects in not only Oklahoma, but the entire country.
Walker checks in as the No. 91 overall prospect in the 2020 class according to the 247Sports Composite. Walker is also listed as the No. 17 ranked shooting guard in the country.
Another potential plus to Walker committing is the fact that he was AAU teammates with Oklahoma State's No. 1 prospect in the 2020 class: Cade Cunningham.
Like most high school prospects, Walker will need to go through a training program to put on some weight and muscle mass once he gets on campus, but the upside is tremendous with Walker.
"Has a slender build but is expected to put on weight. A smooth athlete who has some explosiveness. Shoots the ball at a high clip from three. Has point guard skills as a shooting guard. Has a quality assist/turnover ratio. Can attack and make plays with either hand. Rebounds at a high clip for a guard. Versatile defender who racks up steals." -247Sports.
There are still multiple spots that Boynton and Co. are looking to fill to finish the 2020 class and there are several guys that need to be watched. Five stars Cade Cunningham and Bryce Thompson, along with four-stars JT Thor and Jaylin Williams are the four prospect that need to be watched as we inch ever-so-closer to the November signing period.
