STILLWATER -- Oklahoma State cornerback A.J. Green has been named one of 14 semifinalists for the 2019 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame announced Monday.

It is the first time that Green has been named a semifinalist for the award, which is given annually to the best defensive back in college football.

Green has started every game each of the past three seasons and earned all-conference recognition last season. He has six career interceptions, including a 27-yard pick six earlier this year. A senior, Green won the semifinalist fan vote to help secure his spot as a semifinalist.

The award recipient is selected by the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award National Selection Committee, which boasts members of the NCFAA, an Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame in-house award committee, former Paycom Jim Thorpe Award recipients, and sportswriters and college football journalists throughout the country.

The 2019 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award winner is selected from the three finalists and will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards live on ESPN on Thursday, Dec. 12. The Paycom Jim Thorpe Award commemorative banquet will be held in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
