Big 12: All Pokes Staff 12 Power Rankings
Another week of college football is now in the rearview mirror, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys have played halfway through their schedule, sitting at 4-2 and 2-1 in conference play.
With more and more conference games having been played, it's much easier to see where each team stands, especially with most teams having had their by week or approaching it.
Here is how the All Pokes staff ranked the Big 12 after Week 7.
1. Oklahoma, 6-0 (3-0)
Oklahoma had the luxury of a bye week after taking down Texas, which allowed them to maintain their top spot in the conference.
2. Texas, 5-1 (2-1)
Until Texas defeats Oklahoma in a conference championship, or Oklahoma loses some brutal games, the Longhorns might just trail the Sooners the rest of the way out.
3. Oklahoma State, 4-2 (2-1)
After a shaky start to the season, the Pokes look legit after knocking off Kansas State and Kansas over the past two weeks.
4. Kansas State, 4-2 (2-1)
The Wildcats put 38 points on Texas Tech's head to bounce back from a loss to Oklahoma State a week ago, allowing them to hold one of the top spots in the conference.
5. Iowa State, 4-3 (3-1)
While it was against the worst team in the conference in Cincinnati, the Cyclones had quite a solid win over the Bearcats this week, which gives them a solid conference record.
6. Kansas, 5-2 (2-2)
A loss to Oklahoma State after having lost to Texas isn't too beneficial for the Jayhawks, but they remain a solid team in the Big 12.
7. West Virginia, 4-2 (2-1)
Losing to Houston on a Hail Mary pass is quite a brutal blow for the Mountaineers, but how they respond against Oklahoma State will say a lot about them.
8. TCU, 4-3 (2-2)
With a huge bounceback win over BYU, the Horned Frogs now have a chance to declare themselves against Kansas State, though two conference losses will continue to be a hindrance on the season.
9. BYU, 4-2 (1-2)
Having taken care of their non-conference games, BYU's not-so-desirable start to Big 12 play can be covered up a little bit, as long as they turn things around.
10. Texas Tech, 3-4 (2-2)
Texas Tech allowed Kansas State to bring in a redshirt freshman quarterback who ran for five touchdowns, essentially winning them the game. Their two conference wins are against teams ranked lower than them.
11. Houston, 3-3 (1-2)
Houston deserves to climb the rankings a little bit. They threw a Hail Mary touchdown to knock off West Virginia, who was understood to be the third-best team in the conference at the time.
12. Baylor, 2-4 (1-2)
Baylor was hurt with a bye week as Houston was able to jump them after an impressive win over West Virginia.
13. UCF, 3-3 (0-3)
Again, a bye week for a team that's won no conference games calls for no move in their rankings, but winning all three non-conference games gives them an edge over Cincinnati.
14. Cincinnati, 2-4 (0-3)
Winless in Big 12 play with a non-conference loss to Miami of Ohio is reasonable for a team that ranks at the bottom of the conference.
